Two days a week Elliot is home with me so I don’t schedule much work to do. He’s pretty good at keeping himself busy in the studio but can be VERY distracting 😂 So I’m not able to really focus much. This afternoon he was a bit wild and loud but was quite chill while he was drawing. And even though it was only for about 15 minutes, it makes my heart happy when he is doing anything creative, especially art. To many, many more years of drawing my love.

My silly boy on his first day back to school last week. He is such a light in my life. Always smiling and laughing and just overall happy. It’s a beautiful thing to see. Lately I’ve been so proud of him. Mostly because he is finally potty trained. Last Sunday we put the underwear on and didn’t turn back. Within a few days it was official. There were many attempts before this so you can imagine how excited and relieved I am. If you have kids you know how much of a big deal this is. Also, Friday was his first full day of school and he did great. Like I said, I am just so proud of him. Being a mom is a crazy job but I am pretty damn lucky to have this sweet, kind, and amazing little boy to keep me on my toes.

Reflecting Back: My Birth Experience

I can’t complain too much about my pregnancy, but my birth experience was pretty bad. I’m not gonna lie. Everything I didn’t want to happen, happened. That dream birth I was looking forward to certainly wasn’t meant for me. I felt so many emotions during my stay in the hospital: anxious, weak, powerless, sad, hopeless….the list goes on.

And then I was told I had to get a c-section. I just laid there and cried. All I wanted was was to meet my baby.

The surgery was horrible. But when I heard my sons voice for the first time, I smiled. And then I got to see his adorable face, and he smiled. And even though waves of nausea consumed me, I knew that soon, it would all be over.

And here I am today, almost 11 months later. Where does the time go? I feel like I’m going to blink and we will be celebrating his 1st birthday. Just another month and our sweet boy will enter a whole new journey. And us as well as parents. It’s all so exciting and a bit overwhelming. But the adventure awaits us.
