Continuing with our winter sky study Elliot and I read The Mitten by Jan Brett and then discussed why the mitten was so big when the grandmother found it and what animals squeezed in to get cozy. He remembered quite a few.
After he completed a few winter themed worksheets we created our own little mitten with wool roving, our first time! I’ve been wanting to do wool crafts for awhile now so I’m excited to finally explore it with him. Elliot picked purple and I decorated with a little white. I think it came out cute.
As we move forward into the new year it’s a perfect time to reflect on the last 12 months. How did 2020 make you feel? What do you wish you could have done? What are you most proud of? Were there any lessons you learned? Do you have any expectations for 2021?
This past year was significant in many ways for me. I observed the world around me as events unfolded and was left pretty disappointed overall. But I know that I only have the power to change myself – and my life. So I looked within to find the solutions I needed to keep moving. This is always the answer. Only you know what you need to thrive. And I found that immersing myself in nature and avoiding all negative energy was the key.
I feel like 2020 was a gift. And by that I mean it helped me to focus on what matters and pay no mind to what doesn’t. I’m going to sit back with a smile and watch this new year unfold. Many changes are coming and I welcome them all. We don’t evolve when things are stagnant. And as always I look forward to creating, exploring and continue to have hope for new opportunities.
This year is going to be a good one because I have the power to make it possible. And nothing, absolutely nothing, will get in my way.
This morning Elliot learned about stars and constellations. We read Our Stars by Anne Rockwell and then completed a connect the stars worksheet and he made his own constellation. We also used these beautiful reference cards by @raising_up_wild_things. Later I have a fun project planned as we explore this topic some more.
I don’t think I am the only one who is happy to see this year end. However, I must say it has shed a great deal of light on my life. Despite the events that have happened I am still able to rise above it all and move forward. I appreciate the challenges because they only make me stronger. The way I see it, you have to find a way to make things work. And this year was a true lesson in doing just that.
As I get older and wiser I know who I want in my life and who I don’t, I have no patience for bullshit and refuse to allow negative energy to drag me down. There is just no time to waste. This life, right now, is all we have. We must make the best of it!
I acknowledge the beauty and blessings I am graced with and am beyond thankful for all of them. I sincerely appreciate the people in my life and am also grateful for the new friends I’ve made and the likeminded communities I’ve joined. Especially at a time when I could use the extra support. And as always I feel so lucky to have a fulfilling career and some of the best clients a girl could ask for.
I hope 2021 brings you all happiness, love and success. Stay positive and smile! Be the change the world truly needs – open your mind and spread kindness. Live your best life!! We all deserve to be wild and free Happy New Year.
