Target launched another brand recently and not only is it pretty inspiring, but its super affordable and stylish as well. Opalhouse includes bold colors, textured pieces and a huge focus on details. With the brand’s 70s feel it definitely has a sense of nostalgia. However, the furniture is quite modern and the decorative elements are rich in many ways. I think it’s a nice blend of old and new, perfect if you want to bring life and warmth into your home.

Here are some photos of the new brand and its collections, along with some of my favorite pieces. Enjoy!

I have always been an organized person and keeping my home tidy is big deal. Now that I am a mom, I’ve had to make room for our son’s toys and other stuff that take up space. I always see parents showing the mess in their house they just don’t have the energy to clean up, mostly because the kids just make a mess again so they see it as a waste of time. This is not me, lol. There are a bunch of ways to store toys and not let them overcome a space. And it can be done in style! Here are a few tips to help you get your home in tip top shape and have the play areas your kids need. If you don’t have children, you can also benefit from these helpful suggestions too!

Bins and baskets are always a win win. Not only are there so many options out there, they are pretty affordable and tend to go with all types of styles.

Boxes and crates are cool too because you can stack them and design your own structures. Plus, they immediately turn your storage items into accessories, so you will want to use items that are nice to look at. This may help your children to get involved in cleanup time too!

Containers you can see through are nice when you need to keep smaller things tidy. And its another opportunity to incorporate a little bit of fun into the space.

And then you have old fashioned shelving. You can never go wrong with these. Whether they are on the wall or stand on their own, arranging shelves is always fun. Put pretty things on display and keep it fresh.

Creating Comfy, Cozy Spaces

arranging furniture, comfy cozy space, decorating, lighting, natural flow

Creating that cozy, comfy space is easier than you think. Arranging furniture in a room doesn’t have to be complicated. I think when people have a large space, they tend to get a little confused on how to place everything. And the same with small spaces. But there are just a few key things to remember:

Make sure there is a natural flow
Place the furniture so there is space around each piece. And allow the room for people to walk and get by. Now too much room can feel cold, so grouping things together for a more cozy feel always works. For example: don’t just put your furniture against the walls. Create a warm area in the middle of the room and leave space around it.

Allow lighting to play a big role in the space
Depending on how big the space is, make sure there is good enough light in most areas so people can gather and chat. So maybe there is a lamp by either side of the couch, a floor lamp across the room, and maybe a small sized lamp on another table or console. And using that number 3 helps here as well, just as long as they are set apart from each other. Think of a triangle where each light hits a point. That is a good reference.

Combine different size accessories with bigger pieces
Let’s just say you don’t want to walk in a room and have everything be at the same height. You want to have a nice variety so that all the pieces have a flow and your eye moves around the room. So different size accessories, textures, colors, etc…all play a major part in that.

Here are some nice examples of cozy spaces that really turned out beautiful using the these key elements. Hope they help and inspire you to create an amazing space in your home.
