I came across this post on Etsy and had to share. How much fun is this theme for a wedding. That is one event I would love to go to for sure! From a custom illustrated invite gifted by a friend to the orchard inspired centerpieces, this wedding was packed with DIY goodness and indie flair.

The venue, Camrose Hill Farm, in Minnesota is simply gorgeous. Mother Earth surrounded these two awesome lovebirds and gave them a wedding they would never forget. They chose the eco-friendly route every chance they got and even had games to play. What fun!

The bride’s wedding ring was unique as ever and her custom dress was simply gorgeous.  How can you not love their dessert spread filled with candy favorites and an ice cream man.

Husband and wife, Meg and Thomas Suszynski, are great examples of staying true to who you are on the big day. I hope you all have a big smile on your faces when you look at these photos like I did. They made me so happy. Just a little reminder to not let the stress of planning a wedding get to you. Have fun, be yourself and enjoy every minute of it!

Planning a wedding can be very stressful if you aren’t prepared. As I plan my own DIY wedding, I thought it would be great to share some things I’ve learned as well as give tips and advice for all you newbies out there doing the same. Even if you’re not getting married, you can share this info with someone you know who is or even use it for other events you plan on having in the future.

The first thing you must figure out is your budget. Having a large budget for your big day can make things easier because you can hire help and choose places that include it with their services. However, what happens if you don’t have a lot of money? DIY weddings aren’t as scary as you may think. If you’re prepared and ready to get creative, then it can be a blast.

Being organized is most important. Having a folder or journal will certainly help in this department. Keep all papers together and use the journal to hold inspiration that you find along the way. Cut photos from magazines, write down ideas and create a checklist of things you need to get done so you stay on track. Try to create a timeline of when you want to get things done and stick to that schedule. This will make all the difference.

DIY Wedding - Quick Tips

Then, start figuring out what you need. Sometimes it’s not necessary to have certain things. Maybe having a DJ doesn’t really fit your budget. Fine. Remember, there is no right way to have a wedding. It’s your day and it should reflect who you and your fiancé are. It’s just silly to feel pressure when this is something you should be excited about.

DIY Wedding - Quick Tips

{Unique centerpieces don’t have to be pricey. There are a lot of affordable flowers you can use and tons of different ways to present them. Think of other items you include so you don’t spend tons on flowers.}

DIY Wedding - Quick Tips

{Incorporate items that mean a lot to you so the even is more personal}

Now its time to do some research. I did months of it before I was even engaged! Now that I have 3 weeks to go I feel confident in my decisions. Looking into venues, caterers, flowers, décor and favors is a lot to do and it will take up a lot of your time. But it’s supposed to. You will feel comfortable knowing you looked into all your options and chose what is best for you in the end.

{There are so many great blogs out there for inspiration. Definitely take the time to search through some of them for ideas}

DIY Wedding - Quick Tips

{Always test the food you plan on serving! We have decided to go with cupcakes instead of a cake and you bet we tried them first}

If you stick with these tips, it will surely help you along your journey. Always try to get the best deals and don’t overwork yourself. By starting ahead of time, you will get it all done before the wedding and that will be a huge relief. Just breathe and stay focused and your DIY wedding will truly be unique and amazing.

I love shops that carry vintage inspired items and clothing. One of my favorites just came out with a new bridal collection I had to share. I came across Ruche about a year ago and was very happy with their selection. I mostly like their dresses but the shoes and accessories they sell are really awesome too. Not to mention, their vintage inspired jewelry.

Ruche is Bridal Beautiful

The shop’s new bridal collection, To Have to Hold, has an array of antique style dresses for the bride and bridesmaids as well as accessories. The selection may not be huge right now but there are some nice choices if this is the style you are going for. I am sure they will have more as time passes but it’s certainly a good start.

Here are some of my favorites. You can view their lookbook for more inspiration.

A lot of people think its bad luck for the groom to see the bride on their wedding day. I disagree. Although it is nice to walk down the aisle and see each other for the first time, it can’t truly be captured. At least not with both of you in the picture. This is why I love first look sessions.

Not only do you have special time put aside just for you and your partner, you get to capture it in all its glory. Because it’s just you two (and the photographer) your true emotions show and it will forever be remembered. Walking down the aisle is somewhat of a performance, or at least it seems that way. Everyone is looking at you! This surely affects how you act and feel.

Dan and I decided to have a first look session because that personal time with each other means a lot. In that one moment in time, it’s just us. With excitement gleaming from our eyes and subtle displays of nervous undertones, both looking the best we ever have looked. How happy and beautiful we will both be, sharing our last moments of individual bliss. Anxious to speak the words that will bind us forever. How can you not want to capture this?

Here are some inspiring images from couples who feel the same as me. Looking at these photos made me so happy. Not to mention, excited about my wedding day. This is why seeing each other before you’re married is not bad luck. Just look at their expressions and you will see for yourself why this moment is priceless.
