I created Kelly and Conor’s wedding album last October and what a beautiful album it turned out to be. They chose my matted album from the elegant collection, which is such a gorgeous choice. Their special day was elegant and modern and both looked totally fabulous. I really enjoyed putting this keepsake together and was happy to know they both loved it. Here is a sneak peak into the album. Enjoy!

Spring Wedding Decor

Having a spring wedding allows for nature to play an important role in the decor. Since you can have the event outside, its easy to let your surroundings act as decor. And why shouldn’t it? When you have such a beautiful backdrop, don’t fight it with lots of other elements, embrace it and welcome it into your special day.

The colors of spring range from pastels and creams to vibrant hues that can easily be taken from nature. Just look around and let all the fresh blooms and plants be your guide. Your theme should only accent these colors, not bury them. Lets say you are having a rustic event, showcase shabby chic style in texture and antique items that will truly allow the Earth’s beauty to shine. Even if your event may be more farm inspired, using darker textures such as tree bark, burlap and bronze will get the point across successfully.

Remember, its all in the details. What people will remember most are the personal touches you brought to the event. Not so much the amount of money you spent or overwhelming amount of flowers, etc. The more meaningful the event is, the more people will appreciate your special day. Always keep in mind that most weddings look the same. If you want your day to be really memorable, showcase the things you and your partner love and spread your love for each other throughout every detail. That is what will keep people talking years after the wedding.

Centerpieces on the tables should reflect both the season and your theme as well. Keeping it simple is always my motto. You can have various items displayed but its all in how you arrange them. Although everyone feels differently about the table decor, I personally suggest you keep the height low, so your guests can get into conversation during the event. I also feel the table shouldn’t be bombarded with lots of flowers or other various items, as it may feel crowded and uncomfortable for the people sitting there. Not to mention, wasteful. Most just get thrown out after the event.

The bride’s bouquet should accent her outfit without overwhelming her. She should be the focus. You can get very creative when it comes to flowers. I just suggest you keep them local and in season, for a few reasons. First, its more affordable and eco-concsious. And second, it simply makes more sense to use elements that are cohesive with the season of your event. Having a spring wedding with winter-esque decor might seem very out of place!

Since my husband and I are on our honeymoon in Prince Edward Island I wanted to showcase a photo from our trip. There is so much beauty to capture here, it’s amazing. Everywhere you look there are endless fields, rolling hills and lots of trees. Not to mention the cows, horses, sheep and other animals that call this island home. PEI is nature at its best.

I chose this photo because it was truly an amazing experience for me. Standing on the tip of the island in Cavendish, I looked beyond the ocean and was transported to a world far far away. To see the Earth meet the water in such a remarkable way was not only inspiring but memorizing as well. You have no choice but to put the life as you know it in perspective and be thankful for our planet. Earth is such a gorgeous place and we are all lucky to be here.

I am so thankful and appreciative for being able to visit Prince Edward Island and capture all the magnificent views and peaceful surroundings. This place is surely a dream. The more I see, I am taken back and astounded that a place like this exists. You certainly feel like you are in a storybook, it’s very unreal. I am so happy we chose to come here for our honeymoon. It is an experience we will both never forget.

Setting up a fabulous wedding reception is the ambition of every bride and groom in the country. From decking out the banquet tables with the right fabrics, to making sure the walls and ceiling are lavishly decorated, you shouldn’t feel the need to skimp on a single thing on your special day.

This is why you should observe the following tips to make sure everything goes by without a hitch – so to speak.

Guest Post: Getting a Wedding Reception Spot On

Allocate the floor space ASAP
Making the best of the space available to you is undeniably the most tricky part of getting your wedding reception on the right track. If dancing is the main focus of your event after eating, then make it known. To this end you should ensure that your banqueting tables remain either at the edges of the room, or are easily carried aside/stowed away after the main meals are over.

Your chairs should be just as flexible and be able to be removed at a moment’s notice. Try to avoid buying or renting heavy pieces of furniture. There’s nothing worse than splitting your wedding outfit, or seeing a family member injured because they can’t move a table!

Arrange the sound, lighting, decorations and entertainment
The chances are you’ll be stuck with the level of lighting and sound system that comes with your venue. However, if you were to hire a DJ then they might have some lights that could spruce up the areas that need it – as well as a beefy sound system to fill the space.

As for decorating, you should probably leave all of your wedding materials in the safe hands of a trusted source; be it your best man, or maid of honour. Realistically these are the only people who have time to organize – or sub-organize – your reception, as you’ll be too busy getting married to!
