Today we learned about the evergreen life cycle and some more about pine cones. We read From a Seed to Pine Tree by Suzanne Slade and also looked at a section in Trees, Leaves, Flowers & Seeds by DK. Then practiced the letter E, numbers, completed a life cycle worksheet, colored and cut a pine tree for our journal, and did some pinecone art.

This week we are learning more about evergreen trees in our nature study. Today Elliot and I read a beautiful book, Why Evergreens Keep Their Leaves by AnneMarie Riley Guertin, then practiced the letter E, numbers, and cut out various evergreen pictures for our nature journal. After, we did some pine needle matching, triangle dot art and completed a pine tree anatomy sheet.

You can download both the pine needle matching and tree anatomy sheet on my website for free! I have a new evergreen unit available that you can find at:graystardesign.com/homeschool

Elliot also colored a worm illustration for our nature journal
