Christmas/Winter Plants Study: Part 2

After lunch we read All About Winter Plants by Jenna Lee Gleisner and John Willis and did a pine cone counting worksheet I designed. Then got crafty with some cool projects:

  • made holly and poinsettia art with felt and paper while looking at Xmas plant cards I printed out
  • used air dry clay to make holiday ornaments, along with twigs, evergreen pieces, bark and sequins. I love Elliot’s tree! Mine is a little more nature inspired

It was a slow day here but I’m happy we got through our lessons. The day turned out dreary and rainy so time to get comfy and relax.

Missing You

A year ago today I lost my best friend and sweet girl Jenny. It’s a day I will never forget… one of the worst days of my life. It’s still very hard to talk about because just thinking about it brings me right back to that morning. She didn’t deserve any of it. Jenny was an amazing little being and I love her will all my heart and soul. I think of her everyday and when I talk to her I hope she’s listening. When Elliot mentions her all I want to do is cry. I miss my baby so much it hurts. I’m still here waiting… holding on to the thought of her finding her way back to me someday. My kindred forever. Love you so much Jenny girl.

After dinner tonight we read a little more about conifers in the book Into the Woods by Loretta Krupinski and made rustic tree ornaments from @magichomeschoolbus. Elliot really enjoyed layering all the twigs and I had fun adding the sparkle. We made 3 so we can give them as Xmas gifts.
