After some time outside we had a snack and read Turtle Pond by James Gladstone and studied a bit more about pond life in our First Nature Encyclopedia. Then a few worksheets on the letter T and line tracing and a coloring pond sheet from @stephhathawaydesigns that Elliot will finish another day.
It’s spring pond study week! It’s so cool learning about these subjects throughout the seasons. We started with a favorite book, Pond by Jim LaMarche and also looked at different plants you find around ponds in One Small Square: Pond by Donald M. Silver, as well as beautiful resource cards and our ecosystem pond print.
Then we practiced the letter P, cut and pasted a fish puzzle, looked at various things/animals you find around ponds with letter cards, and had a number lesson with a fun nature count and match activity.

After lunch we continued our bird study and read Nesting Neighbors by Jennifer Patrick and learned about flamingos from The Big Book of Birds. Elliot also did a paint with water piece.
Our last day studying nesting birds but thankfully we get to see and learn about all the cool birds that visit us here everyday. This morning we read How Do Birds Find Their Way by Roma Gans and also looked at our Big Book of Birds by Yuval Zommer. Then practiced the letter B, did some coloring, rhyming, line work, and used count and clip cards by @sosimpleabeginning for our number lesson. We also looked at our feather collection and grouped them all by color/type.
