Inked Brides Rule

When a lot of people think of a beautiful bride they picture a pretty girl in a gorgeous dress looking her best. Pristine as can be. And then there are some who imagine a super rad chick pretty as ever in a unique ensemble they will never forget. This my friends is the inked bride.

I am so happy tattoos are more accepted in todays world, especially for women. Being an inked girl myself, I know how it feels to get stared at, both good and bad looks, as well as questioned and complimented almost everywhere I go. I never really liked the attention but I will admit its nice when others appreciate the work I have on my skin.

When it came to my wedding day, I was told to try to cover up my tattoos as much as I could by some and to show them all off by others. I imagine this is something all inked brides go through. I made sure my skirt was shortened to show some of my leg and even though I wore a long sleeve sweater, it was see through. I would never hide who I am despite what people tell me.

First of all, I don’t get ink to cover it up. That is retarded. So why would I want to cover them up on one of the most important days of my life when I am sharing vows with the one I love, who is also covered in tattoos. I saw an episode of My Fair Wedding last year that really bothered me. This girl looked so cute in her bridal gown, especially with her arms all tatted up. To my surprise, she allowed them to be covered up with makeup which looked ridiculous. Why would she do that! It kind of pissed me off because as soon as she did, she was right back to the girl she was years ago. Not the woman she was now.

Well, here’s to the women who show their skin proudly. I love you all because you are yourselves and that is exactly who you should be on your wedding day. Plain and pristine all go out the window here. Inked brides rule!

Inspiration for a Farm Wedding

Having your wedding on a farm not only sends a message, it helps support the local area which is awesome. You obviously must love animals and nature and to have it as a backdrop of your special day is a pretty nice way to give thanks to Mother Earth.

My husband and I fell in love with our venue the minute we saw it. Being the oldest  restoration farm in New York City, we knew it would be perfect for us. From the animals and farmland to the vineyards and restored antique buildings, every aspect of the Queens County Farm said Melissa and Danny. Since we are both vegetarian and support animal rights as well as love the outdoors, we felt comfortable and right at home. This is how you should feel at your wedding venue. I know a lot of people choose their place because they think its pretty but if you have a connection to it, the event experience is that much better.

Here is some inspiration for having a farm wedding. The possibilities are endless depending on where you choose but no matter the venue, the Earth is the main attraction.

The save the dates for your big day are the first peek into your wedding. Besides letting your guests know they are invited it shares where and when you chose to have your wedding. I feel they should always reflect the bride and groom and the theme or style of your event. If they are not cohesive with the formal invitation it gets a little confusing.

I have seen some, along with the invites, that didn’t go with the wedding at all and it just doesn’t make sense to me. I know not everyone is a designer, but that is why you have a designer create them for you. It’s just disappointing when nothing really goes together. It doesn’t have to be matchy matchy but it should all have the same feel. It just shows the event wasn’t planned right or the bride and groom don’t care much about details.

Well, here are the save the dates I created so far. You can find them all in my Etsy shop. I try to offer a variety of styles that appeal to everyone. There are more to come soon! You can always stay updated on new items in my shop by checking out my Pinterest board.

Oh So Pretty Cakes

You can do a whole bunch of things with your wedding cake these days. Bakers can create just about anything. AlthoughI feel they should be simple and reflect the theme of the wedding, you can go nuts if you want. Even if you’re not having a cake its nice to look at some different options. Here are a few I came across I think are fabulous.
