You can always look to Mother Earth for inspiration and guidance. Whether its peering out your window on a snowy day or being surrounded by an endless forest of trees, she is there to lead the way. I am constantly being influenced by the Earth and among my travels, my experiences have been seriously amazing.
On our trip to Maine a few years ago, we were loving the cabin on the water we were staying in. To look outside and see that first thing in the morning was really nice. There is something about water that is refreshing and peaceful, it truly touches a part of your soul. Our trip was awesome, to say the least. We did a lot of exploring and relaxing, which a vacation should be. There are many memories we created while visiting.
One, in particular, really was inspiring though. We took a boat ride out into the ocean and got to see views of Maine we would of never have got to see on land. It was fantastic! Even though it was cold and our faces were almost frozen, we enjoyed every minute of it. I took so many photos because I didn’t want to miss anything. But even though I was on guard with the camera shooting, I silently took it all in and was taken back by the beauty that surrounded us.
This photo almost sums up our boat trip. Even though the ocean is wild and has millions of lifeforms calling it home, it’s peaceful, serene, and calming. The sky offers a horizon so beautiful it can be a painting and the clouds seem weightless, like fluffy streams of cotton. How can you not be inspired by such an amazing view.
It reminds me that life is an endless journey. Just like the vast open sea, there are so many experiences just waiting for us to take and make our own, tons of possibilities to prove, and millions of things to learn and share. This endless journey doesn’t have to be something you fear, for the Earth has given us so much to support our adventures. You just have to walk the distance and open your eyes to what is being shown. There is always more to see.
So if you just look a little deeper and expand your vision, you will realize how important each experience really is. You’re not truly alive unless you’re really living. Create, share, inspire, love, and laugh. These are things that move you farther and deeper into happiness and I wish you all a spectacular journey.

Growing up in New Jersey, I was surrounded by trees, grass, parks and not much industrial exposure. What we all call Suburbia. Coming from Brooklyn, there was a very big difference in the environment. I really did love it though. I am a nature girl at heart so to be surrounded by the suburban backdrop made me happy. I also stayed with Aunt in Long Island almost every summer so that only enhanced my love for this type of atmosphere.
Now, this is not to say I didn’t like the city. Having family in Queens and Brooklyn and hanging out in NYC as a teen kept it alive for sure. But as I got older, my love grew more for the open spaces and cleaner air. The city like areas just felt congested, stuffy and loud. There is a special peace suburbia has to offer and its something I fell in love with more and more. What people call the American Dream, was very much on my mind. The house, the yard, having a family of my own, I would certainly make it happen one day. I am glad to say I did.
This photo was taken in a park on the island a few years ago while working for Patch. I think the parks here are gorgeous and most have so much to offer. As I looked up from where I was standing, it seemed so picturesque. Suburbia at its best. I captured the moment and to this day, I love this shot. In a way it feels like a painting to me, surreal and beautiful. The path so inviting, the trees so lush.
I am happy I placed my family and I in a space where I feel at home. I would never feel comfortable in a city like environment and am grateful I can live where my heart truly lies. I now have my peace and quiet. It’s funny to think about how I dreamed of living in Brooklyn or Queens when I was younger when I wouldn’t even consider it today. I guess that’s what happens when people grow up and change. Even though the one thing that has never changed is my love for the Earth. And now I can experience it everyday in my own backyard.

I was in CT when I took this photo. I loved how this area was all green, even the building has vines and moss growing on it. Although it was a little damp and dreary, the Earthiness of the scene inspired me. These neutral colors are some of my favorite of them all.
It made me think of a space I could have in my home one day. Somewhat like a conservatory room, with plants and moss covered urns. Lots of vintage clay pots and a few comfy soft chairs. A perfect place to enjoy being with nature and reading a book. I hope to convert our porch into this Earthy escape one day. Until then, a girl can dream, can’t she?
