Blooms: Part 1

This week we are studying blossoms! This morning we learned all about different flowers, how they grow, and their anatomy. Then reviewed letters F and L, used our count & clip cards for a counting lesson, completed some fun worksheets, and played a matching flower game. For our art sesh we both colored some pretty blooms, Wild Geranium and a Sunflower (Elliot’s favorite).

After we went outside and looked at how all the flowers in our garden are blooming. We even caught a chubby bumblebee looking for nectar 🐝 Elliot was a big help with watering as well. Who doesn’t love flowers? They are so beautiful and fascinating ✨

A little more honeybee fun this morning. I read a story about how busy a bee can be while Elliot played with his leggos (this book is so cool) and then we reviewed some facts in our bug book. After, Elliot practiced the letter E and we had an art sesh where we colored and created a honeybee mosaic. Bees rule.

This morning we had a chill lesson for our nature study. After a book about a day in the life of a honey bee we did some fun worksheets, a little math, worked on patterns, and played my word in the honey game (which you can download for free at graystardesign.com/homeschool). Then we made a honeycomb rubbing and bees from our Wikki Stix.

Elliot is still dealing with a cold/allergies so we are taking the day to rest and chill out. But I’ve got more honey bee fun on the way ✨

It’s all about honey bees this week in our nature study! We started our lesson with a few good books and learned about the life cycle, the types of bees and their jobs, and how they make honey. Then looked at their anatomy, completed a life cycle worksheet, practiced line work and reviewed letters.

We also played a counting game I created. You can either use dice or just choose a number and then your child adds that amount of bees to the hive.
