Right Hand Ladies

There are so many elements to get in order for your wedding day. From invitations and decor to scheduling all the vendors you need just in time, it can be very overwhelming. One thing to remember is to always have fun and breathe. Planning your big day may be stressful but just know you have people right by your side to help along the way. What would a bride do without her maid of honor and bridesmaids? These are the ladies you personally handpicked to ride along with you. So its important to make sure they look their best and feel beautiful as well.

Here are some of my picks for the lovely ladies in your wedding party. I think it comes down to being comfortable, having the piece fit well, and not ending up costing tons of money. Anything easier on the pockets during an event such as a wedding will help out for sure. Hope you get inspired. Enjoy!

For a more casual garden, nature inspired wedding, these would totally fit the bill. Just because your event is not fancy doesn’t mean it won’t be elegant. Take cues from mother earth and explore florals, pastels, and flowy garments that are soft and delicate. These next picks I found at Ruche, BHLDN, ModCloth, Free People, and M&S.

Ruche – Enchanting Garden Printed Dress

BHLDN – Wingspan Dress

ModCloth – Pondside Processional Dress

Free People – Cast Your Net Dress

Free People – He Loves Me Floral Dress

M&S – M&S Collection Deep V-Neck Ruched Bodice Chiffon Dress
Right Hand Ladies

Having a boho styled wedding incorporates natural elements but has a more earthy feel. Think dresses with layers of fabric, soft and flowy pieces, longer styles, and more handmade elements. Free People is hands down one of the best shops to look for this style of clothing. But I have found some other cute options at ModCloth and Anthropologie.

Free People – Cora Off the Shoulder Gown
Right Hand Ladies

Free People – Martini Embellished Trapeze
Right Hand Ladies

Free People – Modern Chinoise Dress
Right Hand Ladies

Ruche – Loved You First Pleated Maxi Dress

Anthropologie – Sapphire Day Dress
Right Hand Ladies

More upscale weddings with an elegant feel, should incorporate a more streamlined style. Simple pieces with beautiful fabrics that really make a statement. Same style is also popular in prom dresses – teranicouture.com/collection/prom-dresses-2017/. Maybe a little shimmer here and a touch of glam there, but not overbearing designs. Here are some of my favorites I found for all seasons from BHLDN, JCrew, M&S, Ruche, and Anthropologie.

BHLDN – Niceties Dress
Right Hand Ladies

BHLDN – Daylily Dress
Right Hand Ladies

JCrew – Mirabelle Dress in Silk Chiffon
Right Hand Ladies

M&S – M&S Collection Pleated Fit & Flare Dress
Right Hand Ladies

M&S – M&S Collection Sleeveless Mesh Spotted Prom Dress

Ruche – Sophia Monique Tiered Lace Dress

Anthropologie – Eclipsing Lace Dress

I know the bride is a main focus of the wedding, as she should be, but there are so many other important elements that are a part of the overall picture. I upsets me to see a bride who looks stunning and then bridesmaids who just seem uncomfortable and unhappy. They need attention as well. Just as much as the groom and his groomsmen. The bridal party should pop off the background of the wedding, meaning the overall style and theme of the decor as well as the natural setting should be a perfect setting for you all to shine.

Don’t lose your mind shopping endlessly for the perfect dresses and outfits. Besides local shops you always have the internet which comes with being able to try things on in your own home where you are more comfortable. I think that pretty awesome. And even though you have plenty of options where you are from, checking out places in other countries can sometimes really pay off, like the shop Marks & Spencers I included in my picks. You might be lucky to find something no one has seen before and find special deals on garments that might be pricier where you are from. The possibilities are endless.

Spring Wedding Decor

Having a spring wedding allows for nature to play an important role in the decor. Since you can have the event outside, its easy to let your surroundings act as decor. And why shouldn’t it? When you have such a beautiful backdrop, don’t fight it with lots of other elements, embrace it and welcome it into your special day.

The colors of spring range from pastels and creams to vibrant hues that can easily be taken from nature. Just look around and let all the fresh blooms and plants be your guide. Your theme should only accent these colors, not bury them. Lets say you are having a rustic event, showcase shabby chic style in texture and antique items that will truly allow the Earth’s beauty to shine. Even if your event may be more farm inspired, using darker textures such as tree bark, burlap and bronze will get the point across successfully.

Remember, its all in the details. What people will remember most are the personal touches you brought to the event. Not so much the amount of money you spent or overwhelming amount of flowers, etc. The more meaningful the event is, the more people will appreciate your special day. Always keep in mind that most weddings look the same. If you want your day to be really memorable, showcase the things you and your partner love and spread your love for each other throughout every detail. That is what will keep people talking years after the wedding.

Centerpieces on the tables should reflect both the season and your theme as well. Keeping it simple is always my motto. You can have various items displayed but its all in how you arrange them. Although everyone feels differently about the table decor, I personally suggest you keep the height low, so your guests can get into conversation during the event. I also feel the table shouldn’t be bombarded with lots of flowers or other various items, as it may feel crowded and uncomfortable for the people sitting there. Not to mention, wasteful. Most just get thrown out after the event.

The bride’s bouquet should accent her outfit without overwhelming her. She should be the focus. You can get very creative when it comes to flowers. I just suggest you keep them local and in season, for a few reasons. First, its more affordable and eco-concsious. And second, it simply makes more sense to use elements that are cohesive with the season of your event. Having a spring wedding with winter-esque decor might seem very out of place!

Pairing it Up: Bridal Party Style

Pairing it Up

There are plenty of things to get in order and figure out when planning a wedding. I think the most important thing to “get right” is making sure everything from the decor to the bridal party style is cohesive. It doesn’t have to be matchy, matchy but it definitely should look like it all belongs together. That is one thing people notice right away, at least I do. When things don’t make sense, it looks like you didn’t put the time in to make sure it did or just don’t have the ability to do so.

There really isn’t much of an excuse for this considering there are plenty of people you to can go to for help. If you don’t feel you have the design eye to piece your vision together, than its time to bring in a designer. If you have a friend or know someone who does this kind of work, even better! Working alongside someone you are close with makes the experience that much more fun.

When it comes to the checklist of things to do, finding the bride’s outfit for her special day definitely comes before the maid of honor and bridesmaids. Even if you don’t wind up deciding on something or purchasing it yet, you should definitely have a good idea of what style you want. This includes shape, cut, fit and fabric. it’s all in the details! Then you can move forward to the bridal party with the same details.

Although all the bridesmaids dresses are different tones, they are all within the same color choice and keep with the neutral theme. They are all different dresses as well, which works because they stick within the same style and have the same flowy feel.

I’ve been to weddings where I thought the bridesmaids just didn’t really match the bride and its kind of makes a big difference. I mean, the bridal party should look like a bridal party, not just a couple of guests hanging out next to the bride and groom. It’s really quite simple. You just take some of the elements of the bride’s dress and extend those ideas to the others. If the bride is wearing a flowy lace gown than the girls should have at least a little bit of lace or some type of detail that reflects that. It should also be light and airy and have somewhat of the same shape. Not harsh and sharp looking.

This bridal party style works because the style of their gowns match the style of the bride. You can also see that the fabric & sheen is cohesive as well.

Another thing to consider is making sure the outfits look good on the girls who are wearying them. Everyone should be comfortable and feel great in their dress. You obviously chose them to be in your bridal party because they’re awesome so why not make it special for them as well. Having dissatisfied bridesmaids is certainly a bummer.

Unique and theme related, this bridal party style maintains its elegance and vintage appeal while giving each bridesmaid their individuality. Each dress is within the same color palette and the ones that have patterns, are similar to each other. Even though the bride is in lace gown, its an antique style so it works well with all the others.

Sometimes this may be tricky so I created some inspirational pairings along with color palettes that would go with the style of the dresses. My picks came from a few shops I like and may be more untraditional than most but either way, you can get the idea. Enjoy!
