I came across these items on one of my favorite blogs, Oh So Beautiful Paper, and had to share it. My love for sewn pieces and embroidery has grown so much throughout the years – from the time when I was looking for the multi-needle embroidery machine reviews myself to buy one, so when I see it used in a unique way, it truly makes me smile.

These next few examples really used this handmade accent in a beautiful way and truly were a success. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

If you don’t know about World Market, it’s about time you do. This shop is one of my favorites because they carry such an array of items from home decor to accessories. Besides having beautiful and unique products, their prices are great as well. How can you beat that?

Opening in 1958, Cost Plus World Market was a place where people could find unusual and handmade items. Located in San Francisco at the well known Fisherman’s Wharf it became popular very fast. The system the owner used was to sell everything at cost plus 10% for profit. Hence the name Cost Plus.

Today, there are hundreds of stores in business as well as their online shop. It’s global inspired goods are loved by all who look for special treasures. Here are a few of my top picks!

Kate Durkin is an artist from New York who creates beautiful and childlike works of art. Painting and hand embroidery are her loves and any one of her pieces would be a perfect gift. She studied at The New School in NY and also received a certificate for painting from SACI in Italy. Her design skills and overall craftsmanship proves her an awesome artist.

With a number of solo and group exhibitions under her belt, she now works in Queens and has a shop on Etsy where she sells her paintings and pillows. Her palette is serene yet playful with a sophisticated touch. Her Owl print below is a great example of this. Look to her work for natural color schemes that are whimsical and fun.

I am in love with this Etsy shop! Handmade items are one of the only few things that truly get me excited so when I came across this shop I had to share. You have to really appreciate the love and hard work that goes into making these precious items. All are beautiful and whimsy. Right up my alley. Support indie artists out there and shop on Etsy people!

Seapinks‘ designer, Jennifer Hall is not only an artist but a craftswoman as well. Based out of Virginia, her love of nature and animals truly shows through her work and the details are impeccable. Some will make you laugh and others will make you go “awe” but you can guarantee they will all put a smile on your face. Stop by her shop and take a look around!
