I spotted this big guy this afternoon before we headed out to my in laws, he was just hanging around. We got back a few hours later and I went out to water and he was still there. Except this time he was at the top and seemed to be in distress, as if he was stuck and couldn’t get down. Now I’m no bug expert but it really did seem as if he was in need of some help. I watched him for a bit while I watered to see if maybe he would fly away or walk down, something. But he didn’t. He just kept going in nervous circles at the top. I felt really bad and wanted to help. So I gave him a hand by holding one of my bamboo sticks (I use these as stakes) out by him so he could get on. He gladly did and started to walk along the stick towards me. I put it on the ground and he boot scooted away on the grass.

I know this may not seem like a big deal but it made me happy to help this beetle. I’ve never been one to like bugs, they are actually one of the very few things I’m kind of afraid of. But lately, especially since we have started our garden, I’ve gotten used to these little guys being around me more. The beetles, the slugs, the snails, the bees, the spiders, the butterflies, the praying mantis and all the strange looking bugs that live and visit our property daily… they are all special and important in their own way. I appreciate them all, even if some want to eat our veggies. Lol. I’m here to help them thrive as much as I can and give them a place to be free. And the fact that I’m getting more comfortable coexisting with them just proves that when you allow nature to be an integral part of your life and surround yourself with its beauty, magical things happen. Change happens. Evolution happens. You truly see how we are all connected, no matter how tiny something might be. And there is a huge lesson to be learned in that. I am so grateful for what the Earth teaches me. I am just so fucking grateful.

Misty cloudy days give us a moment to reflect. Without the sunshine fueling our soul with energy it’s a perfect time to pause and breathe. I’m sure we all could use some peace and silence. Take it. Be grateful you are here, even though ‘here’ may not be where you want to be. Another day has been offered and you have the opportunity to make it a good one. Happy Tuesday!

THIS. This is where I’m at right now. And where I need to be. There are so many negative things going on in the world but lately I feel like I’m being bombarded with bullshit, ignorance, lies, hate and pure lack of empathy for others. All the while dealing with my own personal issues. So I decided to take a few steps back to reflect and let the dirt settle. And I like it here.

I know people may not feel as I do. That’s fine. We are all different. But when people judge and rant and spew idiotic comments without even listening or trying to accept others, I just don’t have time or patience for that. Not sure why anyone would waste any moment of their life dealing with such poor behavior. I feel like our country is more divided than ever and sadly people are just making it worse. I don’t care what side you’re on of whatever damn issue we are dealing with – we all need to stop, listen, communicate and accept what is. But instead, people rather step up on their soapbox and rant away. Pointing fingers. Giving orders. Telling others how they should live their lives when they don’t have that right. I’ve honestly never been so fucking annoyed and disgusted. So again, I took a few steps back and it became even clearer. I decided to stay where I was and not be a part of it.

I chose to move forward and live my life as I want. Live my truth. I am focusing on what it’s important and what makes me happy. Surrounding myself with people I love, projects that excite me, the beauty of nature, and knowledge to enlighten my journey. Living my best life and always striving to be better is how I’ve always chosen to live. I’m not going to stop now. And when things are crashing down around me, I refuse to be a part of it.

So I’ll just keep skipping on with a smile and hope that the positive energy and kindness I project could maybe rub off on others… and change the scenery a bit. Because I’m over it. I’m done. Choosing sunshine over darkness is what I need to be happy and I’m allowing the light to lead the way.

I am so grateful to call this studio mine. For years I worked out of a home office in all the places I’ve lived and once we had a child I felt it was time to have a space of my own. Now I am able to grow my business in more ways than I ever could and I can work in peace. It truly is my escape. It took a long time for me to get here but I did it. Never give up on your goals and dreams. NEVER. When you are passionate about something, as I am about art and design, put all of yourself into it and work hard at achieving the success you hope for. Design has and always will be the one thing that keeps me moving. The one thing that makes me feel alive. I am wholeheartedly thankful I found a home through creative expression. It’s an amazing feeling to know you are doing what you were born to do.
