James and the Giant Peach is a classic film for children and people of all ages. Tim Burton brings this amazing story to life and allows us all to visit a place where our imaginations can soar. Originally written by Roald Dahl, James is stuck living with his mean aunts when his parents pass away. After some time, he meets a little man outside who gives him a secret potion. Unfortunately, James spills it all over the peach tree by accident but to his surprise the peach brings him a way to escape, explore and find happiness.

With all his little insect friends, he travels the high seas to find his way to New York City. Their journey is full of adventure and amazement. The color scheme used is full of life and holds a childlike feel, taking us all on the exciting trip with James we will never forget.

Terrain is one of my favorite shops because they carry items that are unique, rustic and garden inspired. The natural vibe that carries through the products the sell and their designs is welcoming. Whenever I look around on their website I want to kick off my shoes and get comfortable. I’m sure if I visited the store in PA, I would fall in love all over again. It’s such a beautiful place to be and shop!

Being an artist, its no surprise I look to art and other artists for inspiration. Learning about so many in school was a big bonus for me. Unlike many, I actually loved art history and got excited when a new paper was assigned. Looking into the lives of other creative people is awesome.

I have many favorite artists but here are a few I would like to share. Hopefully, their work inspires you to do create something beautiful. Check out my Pinterest board to see more work from these artists and more.

Color in Films – Last Days

Last Days explores the final days of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. Writer and director Gus Van Sant truly examines the feeling of isolation in the world with this film. From beginning to end, the darker more rustic tones of nature set the stage for sadness, weakness and the psychological sense of strength that is showcased at the end of the film when the character takes his own life. The rich colors of the cooler seasons embrace the story as it unfolds to its realistic and haunting finale.
