I know that it doesn’t feel like spring but it is in fact, officially here. All I can think about is the warmer weather and springtime blooms. I am dying for spring to show her face once and for all.

Dan and I have many plans these next few months so the season will be more to us than just nicer weather. Not only do we celebrate Dan’s birthday this month but our wedding anniversary is May 20th. I can’t believe one year will have gone by. Time flies like there is no tomorrow. Our anniversary trip is booked for the end of the May and we will be relaxing in Charlemont, Massachusetts with our dogs for a whole week. We found the cutest cottage for our stay and I simply can’t wait to get away from it all and be one with nature.

We also have plans here on the home front. Our home will get a number of makeovers which I am very excited about. The kitchen remodel is long overdue and we are about 80% done with collecting all the materials we need to complete it. Once April hits and our windows can be opened, its on! We are also going to work on the backyard a bit and start our vegetable gardens. This is a very much anticipated task. To be able to grow pretty much everything we eat is simple amazing and I can’t wait!

This photo was taken last May, two days after our wedding. When its in full spring mode, our backyard is a true inspiration to me. The lushness of the trees and ivy, the smell of the fresh cut grass, and the little beauties that come alive in our gardens are all the wonderful things that surround our home. All I want to do is lay outside under our cherry trees and listen to the birds sing. I am very lucky to have such an amazing inspiration right in my backyard.

I wish you all happy spring inspirations and hope that the earth can uplift your soul and whisk you away somewhere beautiful. It’s such a gift to have a natural space you can exist in and feel so alive. You don’t know how happy I am to be able to visit mine everyday by just walking out the back door.

The time for Christmas celebrations are slowly creeping in. What better way to get into the glorious holiday spirit than by decorating? Decorations turn your home into a more joyful one and simply put, makes the home look better.

The choice of decorating materials could be a little difficult, though. Nowadays, the market offers a huge variety of decorating items. Not only that, but you can also get into some DIY projects and make your own decorations. However, nothing works better than having lots of flowers around the house to get you into the Christmas spirit.

It is customary to decorate the interior with flowers and various evergreens. The tradition dates back centuries ago when it was believed that flowers had magical powers. The traditional Christmas flowers are poinsettias, ivy, holly and mistletoe. Equally valued is the Christmas cactus. During the past couple of years, floral arrangements that consist of more ‘unusual’ flowers, such as roses, carnations, etc. have been used as well.

All these floral arrangements and plants are usually woven into garlands, arranged in containers or carried and worn for personal adornment. Christmas flower bouquets include corsages and nosegays.

A very famous and constantly present item in every house is the Christmas wreath. Apart from looking good, it also has a meaning. It is a token of God’s mercy and eternity. When it’s made of evergreen boughs it represents new life and hope and is a symbol of God’s everlasting love. The wreath is the perfect holiday accessory which you can hang at home and at your office. It is most popular as an ornament, hung on the front door as a welcoming sign for all guests. The predominant colors are green and red in order to match the theme of the occasion.

Although there are dozens of options, here are some ideas and tips on how to use flowers in order to create beautiful decoration. Rely on your imagination and experiment in order to create even more:

– Get your florist to create a fun theme. You can ask him/her to use white carnations in order to create snowballs and snowmen.
– Fill the pots in your garden with amaryllis, cyclamen and poinsettias. You can even go as far as to wrap them in festive ribbons and paper.
– If you organize a small Christmas get-together at your place, you can greet all guests at the door by giving them a miniature wreath for them to bring back home and hang wherever they please.
– Flowers can also be used for the purpose of decorating the Christmas tree. You can use either fresh or dried flowers. Both will have an excellent effect on the tree and are way better than the generic plastic and glass toys. You can even fill small vials with fresh (or dried) flowers which are to be hung on the Christmas tree.

Flowers are sure to contribute to a more colorful Christmas by adding a nice touch to your overall decoration. You will be convinced when you see how impressed your guests are.

Happy Friday Everyone! Today is a rainy day over here in New York which is kinda nice considering its been very hot and humid the past few days. The rain has brought a cool breeze as well which I have been waiting for. This weather reminds me of my favorite season, fall. This is why I have chosen this photo for this week’s inspiration. It was taken at the Meroke Preserve in Bellmore, NY, which will always have a special place in my heart.

I call it Autumn Lush because there is so much vibrancy in these branches. Reaching out to one another, becoming tangled in the sweetness of the cool air. The ivy acts as a cushion for harmony to form as it boasts its earthly colors and soft cloud like shape. This is one of the reasons I love fall. You look up and see the trees connecting with each other, spreading life, and the remaining leaves appearing to hang on delicate garland of hugs.

It may seem like everything dies during this season but it is indeed the opposite. Mother Nature resets and recharges as it sheds its outer layers for all of us to see. Its quite personal and beautiful, if you ask em. Seeing the bare souls of many of Earth’s gifts. it opens up a world where details and hidden secrets come alive. In this autumn lush, I am invited to get a little bit closer to what I love the most, Earth.
