I have always loved to dance but when I was young it was huge part of my life. Amongst the many types and styles of dance music, Deee-lite stuck out, unlike a sore thumb. Their groovy sound and sharp beats truly brought joy to my day.

Bringing you back to the old school with a hint of 70s flair, this album surely hit the spot for something unique and different but at the same time gave you a nostalgic feel. And Lady Kier’s voice was simply beautiful. Who hasn’t heard the song, Groove is in the Heart? This album was big hit and its no surprise. It’s fun, uplifting, and smart. Good Beat was my jam!

The color palette of the album cover is a good representation of its sound; bright, colorful, and fresh. The cute illustration alongside the mix of pastels and yellow really catches your eye, just like the music seriously moves your body. One of my favorites for sure.

When London based band, Bloc Party released their first album, Silent Alarm, I was hooked. It seemed they came around at the perfect time. It’s crazy to think that was 8 years ago. They are a nice combination of melodic sound, smooth rhythm, and beats that will get on up on your feet. And with Okereke’s young and fresh vocals it was definitely a powerhouse of an album.

The cover of the album is a beautiful serene photograph of a field in winter. I am in love with the cold neutrals of gray and taupe against the stark white sky and ground. So pretty. It’s simple, yet eye catching. Kind of like the title, Silent Alarm, quiet yet loud. I feel this translates well to the music in that it speaks volumes. There are a lot of elements to the songs on this album and if you don’t really listen, you might miss some of the genius details that make it so great. Just like missing something if you don’t look  deep enough. One of my faves for sure.

Aphex Twin was a big part of my youth. As I got older his music played roles in special memories of mine, ones I would never forget. When certain sounds find their way into your life and act as a soundtrack, you know its good. This is just one of albums that I really connected with. Just the light, airy sounds and unique combination of ambient beats took me to another place. There surely is no other to compare to Aphex Twin.

The album artwork is grungy and distorted, with the color of rust the main character. The play with light really creates a beautiful array of tone and shadow, while it goes from cream to orange and then to brown. And with the texture these colors display behind it, you just wish you could feel its beauty.

This is a nice palette to take in consideration when using warm hues in your home or event. Orange has so many shades, from tangerine to the carrot color we all know, and you can find a lot of them here. The same with yellow and brown, which also incorporates the red family. A whole lot of warmth resonates from this album, both inside and out.

This album really brings me back. I remember when it came out in 94 and how popular it became. I connected with the smooth guitars and clean sound of the album as well as with the vocals. I think everyone has a memory where Wonderwall starts playing and a group of friends joins in the chorus. I certainly do. I even have one of those moments on film. Too funny to forget. That song will always be a favorite.

The album artwork is an interesting photograph taken of the band. They are in various spots of the room and each one is doing something different. I love the soft color palette. With shades of blue and cream, its a nice backdrop for the style of music on the record. I imagine these pastel like hues would be perfect for a nursery or kids room as well as an event. Combine them in a space in your home and you will get a calm, peaceful space.
