Jeff Soto is one of my favorite artists. His work is incredibly inspiring and within the genius of his art, the color schemes he chooses are beautiful and free. With a mix of illustration and paint, his graffiti style pieces have been shown throughout the world in numerous galleries and shows.

Born in California and a graduate from the Art Center College of Design, Soto has been inspired by his youth, hip hop and popular culture. One can clearly see this in his work. I would describe his imaginative style as wild, alive and organic. There seems to be no boundaries to his aesthetic which I admire. The “no holds bar” approach highly resonates with me.

His piece, Spring, is one of many that I adore. I felt with the season at our door, it was perfect to showcase. Between the pastels and earthy feel, I fell in love. The contrast of dark and light is superb as well. I recommend you check his other work out if you aren’t familiar with it. It’s one artist you will never forget.

I am sure you all know I absolutely love paper. If you don’t than where have you been? You can check out my Pinterest board, My Love Affair for Paper, to see why if you haven’t already. But now I have to talk about paper artist and illustrator Jayme McGowan. She has taken the craft to new heights with her 3D dioramas and I must say, I am a huge fan.

Jayme lives and works in Sacramento, California where she creates wonderful little imaginary scenes we all would like to travel to. She illustrates unique characters then brings them to life. The final product are hand cut creatures so lovable, you wish you could be transformed as well.

You can find her work at her Etsy shop, Roadside Projects, where 5×7 and 8×10 prints are available. The piece I chose for the palette spoke to me through form, personality and most of all color. From the pastel blues and pinks to the neutral gray tones, I just couldn’t resist. I also love the addition of pattern and detail, which you will find in all of her work. Like I said before, Jayme takes the craft to new heights.

Look to her work for inspiration that brings a unique and whimsy feel to any event or space. Her talent for creating movement and emotion will certainly impress you, as it did for me. I recommend you check out all her work and maybe even send a little “hello, you rock”. You can read more about her process and the latest news on her blog and don’t forget to like her Facebook page too.

What brought me to Belgium artist Aileen Leijten was her felt creations. Her etsy shop, Felt Forest, is filled with nature inspired felt items that are fun and whimsy. As I looked around her shop I came across her children illustrations and I couldn’t resist using a piece for a palette.

A Waldorf graduate, Aileen also writes and illustrates children’s books. Bella & Bean and Hugging Hour are a few you can find on her website, which is cleverly designed and so much fun. Here is where you can also learn all about her exciting career  working with big time companies as well as the many awards her animations have won. Lets just say she has a lot of tricks up her sleeve. Or in this case maybe we should say talents because she clearly represents a wide range of skills.

Now living in Brooklyn with her husband and children she focuses on children’s books while selling her little treasures in her etsy shop. I highly suggest you roam around Aileen’s world of art for there is so much to discover.

The piece I chose for the palette spoke to me in a number of ways. The color scheme is mild and pale with shading and detail to die for and the composition as a whole is genius. Her characters are so unique you just want to see more. Look to her work for neutral palettes with a lot of dimension. They translate well to interior spaces and parties.

If you are looking for gorgeous inspiring photographs, than this shop is the place to find them. Canadian photographer and fellow Etsy shop owner, Bomobob has an incredible collection of art to choose from. Perfect for whatever space or project you are working on, his work is nostalgic, peaceful and beautifully captured.

Although it is hard to pick just one (you will see more of his work in future palettes), for now I chose Pastel Summer. Since spring is finally here I thought this piece was perfect. I love its color scheme with lavender, pinks and creams. The image is so lush and whimsy – I imagine myself laying in the grass among the fields of wild flowers, inhaling the sweet scents of nature. Seems like a perfect moment you wish could last forever.

There is tons of inspiration one can get from these photos. Weddings, parties, showers as well as interior spaces. This one in particular would be a sensational palette for a garden wedding with rustic accents or any event in the spring or summer. Make sure you check out more of Bomobob’s work and also his other shop, Aunt Aggie’s Attic.
